We had this a couple of years ago. We don’t pay for CW seats and it actually paid off as what BA were doing was allocating CW passengers who hadn’t selected seats the F cabin as the CW cabin was oversold. So I think it will depend on how many CW seats they have sold. Too complicated to go into but there WERE still free seats in F at check in, so it might also be a matter of luck!
I’m assuming this is a flight which doesn’t actually offer F service as you don’t seem to be talking about an upgrade?
