Yes, it should be possible in theory and you should have enough time, most of the time. Don’t check in for the later flight.
However it may turn out that the staff either don’t know how or don’t want to do it.
If the 1805 flight is still available for booking, you can try changing it yourself on the BA app as soon as you see the stairs being moved towards the plane doors.
