That’s right, the flight number doesn’t change as it’s considered one flight with a stop in Singapore
One option is to change between the two BA flights in Singapore, then you get the extra TPs. You can do this outbound by putting the legs in seperately using the multi city option.
I vaguely recall you’d need to call to book it on the return it’s less than 2hrs connection which the website is hard coded not to allow. More risky going that way as if anything went wrong out of Sydney you’d miss the BA12 onwards (BA would rebook though)
