We are looking at reward flights LHR to Budapest at the end of January – trip is for partner’s birthday and we are using IHG CC Free Night plus IHG points for 3 nights at Intercontinental Budapest. Hotel is booked and cancellable, do I need to move quickly to secure the flights?
I suppose even if I change my mind I only lose £2, but is there a point where the £2 will increase?

If you think you might cancel, then booking at the 50p cash rate is a good idea, if you think you’ll definitely be going, then you get better value for your avios using the mid-range cash value, which uses less avios.
