241 with onwards booking only – does Future Travel Voucher cover for return?

Using 241 voucher, I booked only onwards flight as return flight was not yet on sale at that time.
Unfortunately, our onwards flight to Tokyo in March 22 has been just cancelled.As my 241 voucher will expire at early April 22, I believe I ought to exchange it to Future Travel Voucher. In this case, does FTV cover for return flight to Tokyo for 2 people or only for single flight? If single, how do I get back the return potion that I have not used with 241?
Or is there any other way to get back my 241 and somehow extend the expiry date?
Yes, it should be fine. You will have (in credit) the avios and cash that you have paid and the 241 voucher. We had a trip which was booked as 2 separate one-ways, linked by a 241 voucher, which we FTV’d. Have just re-booked another trip using the FTV – they had to refer back to the original (outbound) PNR to find the voucher but it was all fine.
If you have any doubts, it is best to call up and do it over the phone – accepting that there is a very long wait time.

You could get a full refund of your Tokyo flight. Then using some avios and the 241 you could book a flight to Paris let say with the person you would like to fly. Then you can ask for an FTV for that so you save the 241. Make sure the passengers on this ticket will be the same for a future flight. That is the downside of an FTV that the passenger names are set to stone.
