On the 7th of March I transferred over 300k points from Amex to Qatar and hasn’t been posted in my Qatar Privilege account yet. I have spoken to Amex and they claim everything is right on their side (they sent them to Qatar). Qatar says they didn’t receive anything, and every week the same conversation happens again. I was planning to use these points to book a one way flight from Japan back to Europe and I am worried availability is gonna run out.
1. Have you done AMEX to BA before? never had an issue there. I move BA to Qatar no issues.
2. Why 300k in one go and not in tranches or at least do one smaller test transfer first?

1. Yes, so did to Iberia as well and never had a problem
2. I ask myself that too now 🙂 As I never had a problem with Amex transfer to airlines, didn’t expect this to happen either.
A quick update: Amex transferred back the points to my Amex account yesterday, after almost a month, since they couldn’t reach Qatar account. They don’t know why, but they are aware of the issue as its happening to more people.
Now, the reward flight I wanted to book on QR with miles has disappeared. I will claim via post to Amex to pay for this flight, as recommended by the CS agent, but I doubt I will get anything – we are talking a business class ticket HND-MAD.

I very much doubt Amex would agree to this, maybe they would for the 300k points but don’t expect it is all I can say.
