Through bad timing I managed to miss out on the 70k bonus offer for the premium plus card. How likely is it that a similar offer returns, and is it worth holding out for a larger sign-up bonus? Is there an indication of how long Amex usually wait between these larger sign up offers? Thanks for the help!
This wasn’t an American Express offer; it was a British Airways offer, and the number of posts on this very forum complaining about whether one would get 35k or 70k attest to how unlikely it is that this offer will return in the near future.
Yes, Amex and BA will decide what do in the future based on half a dozen comments here, not on what is best for their business. Makes total sense.
OP, no one knows. This 70k offer was quite different from what they’ve done before. Anyone that pretends they know if this is going to be repeated or not is making stuff up.I have no proof of this, but it seems on average AMEX offer an extra bonus once per year per card type.
BA Amex cards for the last 2 years have had theirs around January / February. So I would expect about another 9-10 month wait for the next bonus.

Maybe I don’t understand the process well enough – but just curious as to how can BA offer an Amex card giving away 70k Avios without Amex’s prior agreement?
Doesn’t it need Amex’s input to execute the offer, by way of tracking bars and coordinating the 70k Avios?
