Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Action required before you fly to the USA

I am flying to Atlanta on Wednesday and keep getting these messages from BA.

AFAIK if I have an ESTA and am fully vaccinated I don’t need to take any actions before flying? Is that correct? Do I need to make an attestation or has that been dispensed with, it’s not clear at all on the BA site.

    Thanks

You still need to upload your vaccine certificate and complete the attestation online as well as complete the usual advanced passenger information.

Oh okay, where is that….through MMB? I have verifly but believe BA no longer use that

No, you need to do it via the official US channel – possibly the CDC website but I can’t remember off the top of my head. Then when you get confirmation print it off and take it with you in case anyone asks for it (which I’m pretty sure no one did when we travelled in December).

I flew to the US on the 13th March on BA and I did it all a couple of days before via BA and didn’t have to go via any other channel to upload my vaccine status and complete the attesation. No need to print anything off.

There should be a link in the emails BA send out about your trip to upload this info.

There is no “need” set by the USA to upload/download anything, it is on the airlines to implement their own checks – and checks are varying with time.

If you have an ESTA and have a vaccine certificate – you can safely proceed just with the airlines checking in process, which includes the attestation electronically – whether BA or Virgin. If they ask for something to be provided, provide it. If they do not – no worries.

They are really easy to find.

    BA/IAG – https://us-attest.iag.cloud/

    AA – https://www.aa.com/attestation/?from=aacomInfoPage

    Virgin – https://www.virginatlantic.com/content/vaa/www/us/en/covid-test-manager.html

72 hours at the earliest before flight or during check in process.

Damn I did it more than 72 hours before? I might have to do another one again.

Yes – but just check in with your airline as normal – the attestation is part of the check in process. You do not need to use those links.

Hmmm – so I’ve double failed. Two different PNRs, both for a vaccinated big person and an un-vacinated small person. Flights are connecting from Edinburgh (EDI-LHR-SJC) which apparently makes it even more flakey.

Both big people are approved and can check in online. BA are supposedly still checking the little people’s documents and therefore they cannot check in.

I can’t decide if I should just check in the big people online now given that would hopefully make ourselves less likely to suffer from downgrades/seat moves etc. And if they mess with the kids’ seats then I’d imagine they have to fix it given they can’t put them by themselves. Currently we have a nice block of four seats 2×2 with direct aisle access for one. We’re using an Amex 241 and GUF2 voucher

Any thoughts – OLCI big people now or wait for all four at airport tomorrow?

All I saw on MLB was a mention of ESTA then the usual “fill in API” – nothing about uploading anything
    (we have physical NHS certs)

Did this today for flight Saturday morning. I got an email with the subject “Action required before you fly to the USA” at T-50 hours. MMB has a massive “COVID-19 entry requirements” banner at the top.

@Froggee, it’s SOP not to be able to do ONLI if you’re flying from the regions and/or have a child with you – even if it indicates the adults can check in, you often start the process then get a message that this can’t be done online.

There’s no requirement for under 18s to be vaccinated, that’s just BA’s IT talking rubbish (as usual). What we normally do in this scenario is get to the airport early, go to the priority desk (as there’s very rarely any kind of queue there at MAN, lol) and get the desk agents to check you in and print your BP’s. We’ve done it the night before when staying at the airport before an early flight to avoid any potential long queues at the crack of dawn! Never done this at EDI but they are absolute stars at MAN, far and away the best experience I ever have with BA.

BA ain’t saying the boys need to be vaccinated, just that they are still checking the submission. We’ll deal with it tomorrow at the airport at EDI. I can’t imagine it will be too painful (famous last words)

No, I meant BA’s IT can’t deal with the fact that children don’t need to be vaccinated and therefore don’t have any documents to upload. We’ve had this a few times since the pandemic- and even though our teenager is now jabbed there is no actual form to complete for him to declare this which still confuses BA’s systems.
