Hi all – hoping someone with a better and more encyclopaedic knowledge of European Hiltons might be able to help.
I’m looking to redeem Hilton points (currently have just under 500k) for one, possibly 2 long weekends away over summer. (The alternative is a do a diamond-member 4-4-5 offer, but it’s unlikely I’ll be able to get 5 nights in a row free for a break).
Looking at a good-brand Hilton to stay at – ideally a City (or close-ish to an airport) location; near a beach, with a pool. To give you an idea, I’ve stayed at the Hilton Diagonal in Barcelona and the Curio Higueron in Malaga before.
Ideally pairing this with BA flights from London as I’ve a bunch of avios and a voucher to use, but that’s not nearly as critical as long as fights aren’t too expensive.
One thought was Sardinia -= but hotel seems to be an hour away from Cagliari airport? Two other ideas were Cannes (flying to Nice), and Lisbon?
Any other decent recommendations?
Hilton Mallorca Galatzo is 65k per night in early July, so 260k points for 5 nights.
Conrad Algarve in July is 90k per night, so would be 360k for 5 nights.
Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa is 70k per night in July so 280k for 5 nights.
All not to far from their nearest airports too, though not close to cities.
Hilton Sorrento Palace is available on a couple of occasions this summer for 60k per night so 240k for the 5 nights.
Not a bad shout at all. You won’t find a significant beach on the plunging cliffs of Amalfi region, but the pool at the Sorrento Palace is pleasant and generally far from crowded and the rest of the grounds are nice too (although charging for Padel courts for hotel guests seems mean). At 240k/5nights so less than 50k/night at peak summer times is a very good use of points with over 1p/point achievable (rooms can be 600 Euro+ per night). Onsite restaurants priced for the American market, but hundreds of options in the heart of Sorrento are a 5 minute walk away.
I find the Conrad Algarve location slightly weird (not quite part of the Quinta da Lago golf resort; not quite part of the coast) but no denying it’s very popular.
I forgot a left field option of Hilton The Hague, short tram ride to the beach, in a city, but no pool. Good executive lounge if you have access via Diamond or an upgrade to an executive room. Have seen it available for 5 nights for 189k points this summer, and it is a short train ride from AMS or RTM too.
Dubrovnik?
Canopy Cannes?
I’m reviewing Hilton Venice in a couple of weeks.
I stayed at the recently opened Legacy Cascais, in the Curio Collection. Do a search for my thoughts in the forums last month.
Dubrovnik?
Canopy Cannes?I’m reviewing Hilton Venice in a couple of weeks.
Cannes is a dive, wouldn’t go back if someone paid me. The town that is, never been to the Canopy.
Dubrovnik is a great shout @rob. Hilton Imperial right next to the old town so you can wander in when the day trippers/cruise passengers have all gone.
Hilton Costabella Rijeka is reasonable with stunning views. Or how about Budapest (spa break?)
Never knew about that Hilton at Giardini Naxos but seems it’s now a Delta.
