Apologies if this has been answered before. Appreciate things has been changed recently with Aer Lingus.

I’m thinking of booking a r/t from Rome to NYC in business via Aer Lingus – but not booked via British Airways. The price is very attractive (~1250 euros) and I guess I will go through US immigration via Dublin. Which is a win.

    1. Will I receive full tier points even if its booked direct with Aer Lingus and not BA?
    2. Will my Silver benefits work with Aer Lingus?

    Is there something I’m missing?

    1. Yes
    2. No

AE aren’t in Oneworld so no benefits. Yes if you’re routing via Dub you will go through pre-clearance and you can check your luggage all the way.

BA have conveniently buried the TP calculator to improve the customer experience but you can check them here https://www.britishairways.com/travel/flight-calculator/execclub/en_gb

What silver benefits were you hoping to use? Many benefits will come via your business class ticket.

Priority check in – Yes, via class of ticket (look for the desk that says AerClub or Priority)

Lounge access at Rome Yes, as above

Priority security – Yes, as above

Priority security at Dublin US pre-clearance – Yes, as above

Lounge access at Dublin post-US clearance – Yes, as above

Priority boarding on DUB-NYC – Yes, as above

Baggage allowance – 3 checked bags of 23kg each

    Things you won’t get:
Priority boarding on FCO-DUB – Only if you have AerClub elite status or you book early enough to snag a front row Aerspace seat (if sold on said short haul flight)

Thanks both, seems like a no brainer.

On the status point, I was mostly thinking about seat assignment. But makes sense.

Seat selection – Free choice at the time of booking (before purchase screen) by virtue of your cabin class 🥳
