Hi everyone,
Trying to change a main cabin seat to a oneworld® elites seat, but it’s not allowing me. I am sapphire. Tickets bought directly on Alaska Airlines website. Is there a reason for not letting me change a seat?

Should do, I’d suggest you check whether the correct frequent flyer number attached to the booking. If you have an Alaska account and were logged in when you booked it defaults to that and I recall it’s a little bit fiddly to enter another OneWorld program when you book.
If it is the right one maybe give it 24 hours then if it still doesn’t work get in touch with AS – Skype is cheap or free.
If you do have the wrong FF number attached, it’s often easier to use one of the other OneWorld member site to change it. Enter your flight details in the “Manage my Booking” section of Finnair, Royal Air Maroc, Quantas etc One of them usually works and is better

/Agree @SBIre Finnair and/or Royal Jordanian have always worked well for me
It’s the correct FF number and AA agent told me I would be able to change the seats during check-in 24hrs prior due X class fare for my LAX-SJD flight.
Did you book what Alaska Airlines calls a “Saver Fare”, which sounds like their equivalent of basic economy? If so, I think their web-site says seats will be assigned 24 hours before the flight.
