Hi,
Does anyone know when the “extra availability” for new 241 vouchers expire?
I’m looking at doing an open-jaw trip around the States in September 2024. Last week then I looked extra availability was made available when flying from Manchester, but this week no extra availability is being offered. I’ve read that the extra availability is only made to new 241 vouchers so I’m wondering what what stage is a 241 voucher still classed as “new” as maybe mine no longer falls in that category.
Apologies in advance if I’ve misunderstood. I got my 241 voucher on the 26th July but wasn’t able to use it till now as I didn’t have enough Avios points.
I’ve tried to search the forum on this but too many threads are coming up and the ones I’ve read don’t seem to have the answer I’m looking for.
Thanks in advance.
Extra availability doesn’t ‘expire’ in the way you’re concerned about. The reference to ‘New’ vouchers refers to the difference in voucher Ts and Cs introduced some time back, which included the extra availability feature. Your voucher should be good for accessing 3xtra availability until it’s normal expiry date – subject to there actually being any extra availability !
Ahhh ok, then I guess there’s no xtra availability because all the I class seats have now gone? (Another thing I read in another topic).
Thanks for correction in my misunderstanding 🙂
I think there are two things going on here:
Extra availability when starting your journey from outside London.
Extra availability because you are using a companion voucher.
To understand this better, try looking for seats to Tokyo from London without a companion voucher. Then try with a companion voucher. Then try with a companion voucher from Manchester or a Scottish airport.

Or maybe haven’t been put on sale yet….

Does anyone know if there’s a date/time when the extra regional departure flights become available? I’ve been looking and they don’t seem to be released at 355 days out. I need Sydney for March 2025 and would prefer LHR but happy to go from and to MAN or NCL if I need to, just not sure if I have to be on the phone at midnight to do this. I realise they aren’t released yet just want to be ready .
Re “they don’t seem to be released at 355 days out.”
This is correct. They are released usually much later, not on a defined date, but at BA’s choosing when they feel they can’t sell those seats for cash.
Would someone be able to kindly help me and check if there is any extra availability with a companion voucher for LHR-AUH and MAN-AUH (via LHR) one way in business on 4/11/24 please? My voucher is tied up in another booking at the mo so it just shows standard availability. Thank you v much.

LHR > AUH
21:25 > 08:30
3rd Nov 2*PE + 2*BC
>>4th Nov 2*PE<<
5th Nov Nov 2*PE + 2*BC
MAN > AUH
4th Nov – A bunch of departures out of MAN, but just the 2 PE flights as above
3rd & 5th Nov – A bunch of departures out of MAN with 2*PE and 2* BC as above
Also, probably not a good idea to state your exact dates openly.
Thank you for all the info.

The ‘extra’ Avios seats are driven by high levels of I-class cash availability. This will be at the point that cash fares are lowest, which multiple surveys show is 3-4 months before departure.
OK thanks for the insight Rob.
