Amex Gold annual spend bonus change

I’m confused.

Say I spend £15k prior to October 15th. This gives me 7500 bonus MR points prior to the switchover.

What happens now?

a) If I spend £10k then I get 5000 more MR points. (Presumably not – this would mean I’d received 12500 MR bonus points in one card membership year).

b) If I spend £5k then I get 2500 more MR points. (Presumably not – because the spend bonus is unlocked by blocks of £10k spend).

c) If I spend £10k then I unlock my next MR bonus, but that bonus is capped at 2500 points due to the annual cap of 10000 points. (Plausible, but pretty stingy).

d) No more annual spend bonus available – they could only apply a block of 5000 points, and that would take me over the 10000 point cap. (Ugh).

e) Something else?!

It seems very odd that the switchover isn’t happening at the end of the card membership year.

The comms e-mail states :

If you have spent £5,000, and provided this spend is charged to your account by
14 October 2025, then you will receive 2,500 points.

However, if you have not spent £5,000 by 14 October 2025, your spend will carry forward, and you will need to reach £10,000 spend in your membership year to receive 5,000 bonus points.
