Amex Gold Renewal

Hi my Gold card is renewing in a couple of weeks has anyone had any luck recently with retention bonuses and which is better for it chat or phone?
Also did Amex actually end pro rata refunds if I want to cancel it after the renewal?

I’ve used chat and got 20k points, but needs to be a year since your last one and probably very close if not after your yearly sub hits.

Pro rata refunds continue for now and I assume for the rest of 2024 as you would hope they would give some notice.
