I am currently enrolling to Marriott Gold through Amex Platinum and it may take up to 5 business day.
Is it possible to book the hotel first, but get the status benefits later (i.e. 25% additional base points and upgrade where available) when I check-in? Or it will only work at the time of booking?
Intending to use it with the 25% new member offer since I just signed up for Marriott.

You get the benefits at check in (or check out for the bonus points), and based on your status at check in, so no need to worry about it at the moment. Don’t get your hopes up too much for an upgrade though!
Hi Matt, many thanks. I won’t expect much other than a better view but hoping for more given it is off-peak.
Don’t get your hopes up, Marriott Gold like IHG Plat is pretty worthless for hotel treatment bar the extra points
