Appears that Amex has removed Krisflyer as a MR transfer partner – quite a shame since they’re the only Star Alliance airline as well despite the less than optimal transfer ratio.
Thoughts?
Nothing official as far as I can see, transfer partners have been know to disappear briefly.
Could speculate that SQ may have removed Amex rather than the other way round. Wonder if in all markets.
Could be just UK. SQ gets a massive income from US market selling miles through all banks.
Yep – think it’s just for the UK since Amex US (and Amex Singapore) probably can’t remove Krisflyer!
News appears to be filtering out to other websites and FlyerTalk it seems..
The only post I’ve seen on FT is by the only person I’ve seen write an article, hardly conclusive at this stage?
So now no Star alliance partner transfers from UK MRs. We really do get the rough end of the deal. It was a bad rate anyway but just seems so unfair not all MRs are created equal in terms of redemption choices between markets
I’ve still yet to see anything official, the only article I’ve seen has now had the word ‘temporarily’ added to the title. Fake news I think, I reckon it will be back at some point. Also wouldn’t surprise me if Amex can still complete transfers manually if you ask them.

They can’t. Reader emailed me to say it fails it a manual transfer is attempted.
@Rob No official announcements though?

MR > Bonvoy > Krisflyer.
A loss in value but better than nothing.
What @BBbetter said
40,000 MR points did get you 26,666 Krisflyer points.
Now it is 25,000 via Bonvoy.
Albeit, it has to be in 40,000 MR / 60,000 Bonvoy increments for this rate.
@Michael-C you may be able to book what you want via Virgin for less than Krisflyer anyway.
HSBC World Elite gets 1.5 Krisflyer points per £ so beat Amex hands down before this anyway.
Also for those who hold the legacy Amex ICC currency card it at least is still showing KrisFlyer as a 1:1 reward partner transfer.

Thanks so much, didn’t even occur to me – I’m a complete Virgin virgin!
