I got approved for the BA Premium Plus on 10th February. It hasn’t arrived. I chased it with Amex on Tuesday 14th. They said it should arrive Wednesday 15th. It’s now Thursday 16th and still not arrived.
Does the month/billing period start when it was approved or when I activate the card?
At this rate I’ll only have 2 1/2 months to spend £3000 for the bonus.
I’ll call them tomorrow afternoon if it still hasn’t arrived.
Just as a datapoint for you: pretty much every Amex card we’ve applied for has arrived within 2 working days.
My current BAPP arrived literally the next day.
I’ve looked high and low for you @Philondon but once you hit the target, you’re not able to see the date by which you have to spend the £3,000, so I’m not able to pinpoint what mine was.
I have a feeling that it was 21/04 for a card which I was approved for on 12/01 so I think you are safe.
A friend of mine who applied after me got his a few days ago. He said it arrived a day after applying. He lives in Brighton and I live in London and Royal Mail is pretty rubbish in London. I did think Amex were quick normally.
Thanks @jasdev can you tell me when your billing month is based on when you applied?
Fear not, Aston100 is here with actual factual info lifted from his own recent BAPP application.
According to my spend target trackers on the Amex site:
Companion voucher / £10k spend – I have got exactly 1 year from the date of application
Welcome Bonus / £3k spend: I have got 100 days since date of application.
Therefore, the later the card arrives, probably the less time you’ve got.
But I wouldn’t worry too much about having a few days less, as there are many ways to see you quickly over the line.
Thanks @Aston100
So 100 days not 90. I guess that gives 10 days for the card to arrive which is technically what the Amex email says.
I’m so impatient and I’m waiting to book a pair of flights which will be a big chunk of month 1 assuming I aim for £1000 a month.
I noted when I got mine it was roughly 3.5 months to hit the spend target from the application date (and the card arrived within 3 days)
I applied on the evening of Sunday 22nd January. The card arrived on Tuesday 24th January, and I must hit the £3,000 spend for 70,000 bonus Avios points by the 1st May. A walk in the park!
For those of you worried about me…. joke…. my card arrived today. 🙂
I need to spend £3000 by 19th May.
I’m trying to work out when I have to pay my bill each month. My other Amex goes from 25th of the month to 24th of the month and pay by 18th of next month (24 days later). This card say period ending 5th March so do I have to pay the bill by 29th March?
Wow @Philondon! The card’s arrived so just chill 😎 and start enjoying the spend to riches.
