Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Any issues yet with Etihad Bus. Value ticket lounge access?

  • 12 posts

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems checking in to Etihad lounges on a pre-March purchased business value ticket?

As has been well discussed here, Etihad have changed the policy so that new Business Value tickets no longer qualify for lounge access. As far as I know, boarding passes don’t include date of ticket purchase, so I’m wondering how good Etihad IT will be at marking lounge status on the boarding pass.
I’m flying in April on EY, probably soon enough that the vast majority of tickets still qualify, but I could see a few months in there being potential for confusion problems in outlying lounges.

Perhaps having a pdf copy of the ticket and EY policy handy on the phone might be a prudent precaution?

In the app, if you open the passenger details then click “view more”, it should list out the benefits that come with the fare including lounge access, etc.

I would like to think this is sufficiently automated that the system is coded to know you qualify. No harm going forearmed but if the app says you have lounge access then that should suffice.

It may be worth checking in at a desk in a location other than one with an EY lounge so you get a paper invitation but again I’d assume this is baked into the QR code.

Hi, worth noting on this is that I recently bidded and ‘won’ the auction to upgrade on etihad to business on a trip from AUH to KUL, and it did state on one ereceipt as business value, but when checked in on the app it did show lounge access was included, was able to select seat, then on the digital boarding pass it showed lounge access and fast track

Thanks Swiss Tony and tomjmu- very helpful. Yes, now I know to look for it I can see lounge access confirmed in the app. As we have a very long connection time in AUH I wanted to be sure! (Longer wait than strictly necessary, but the small boy super-jumbo-virgin in me really wants to fly an A380)

The boarding straight from the lounge onto a 380 at AUH is pretty slick. At least the gate I used, it was completely separate from the masses unlike at LHR on EK when you go down and back up again.

So to close the loop, the paper and e- boarding cards clearly state lounge access. AUH Etihad lounge very pleasant, quiet and restful even though the Pearl lounge nearby seems to have a queue outside.
