I have just returned from Amsterdam. I had a business return ticket. Total cost around £500. How can this earn just 617 avios per leg? My cheaper flight to Brussels earned over 2400 per leg. Thanks
Avios earning changed to being price-based recently, your travel dates might have been affected by this?
There’s an article on here from a few weeks back.
I agree it seems rather low. What status do you have with BA? Even a Blue member would earn 6 Avios per £ although it does exclude UK APD and all government and airports taxes. I think that means it also excludes any foreign country similar taxes and I know the Netherlands has a few charges. If you assume around £100 for those then that means you should earn at least 2400 Avios for the return trip.
the calculation under the new scheme (which came in last October)
(BA base fare + BA surcharges) x Status Multiplier
Proper government taxes and airport fees are excluded from the calculation.
I’ve only had one trip so far booked under the new scheme post – they split the avios evenly between the two legs
