Hi All, I finally switched from my free Amex card for the Barclays Avios Plus card with the £20 a month fee. All seems fine and I got my card through earlier this week but just received an email about the perks of my new card which lists I get the upgrade voucher at a 20k a year spend. Im sure this is incorrect and the spend on this card is 10k?
Has anyone else had this misleading email when they have signed up? I clicked through for the t&cs and there its still listed as 10k on the avios plus so im a little confused!
Appreciate if anyone had the same email to put my mind at rest.Can’t comment on the emails, but there’s a spend tracker in the app which should confirm you have a £10K target. If that shows £20K then you will have to introduce yourself to the delights of Barclaycard customer service.
Click on the card account to show your transactions, then View my Avios.
I have already had the delights of their customer service because of the app.
It doesnt show anything about avios tracking and when I click certain things on the card section such as statements it tells me I need full access.
I asked them about this today and was told its because I was a new customer so give it a week and it should all be correct and have full access etc.
Ive never had that before from a bank or credit card app so I am sceptical. I cant say my first impressions are that great……Now you mention it I do vaguely recall other new customers having similar teething problems with the app, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much at this point. You’ll find the spend tracker once it gets itself fully warmed up.

It should be £10k – they’ve definitely sent you the right card have they?!
Waiting game is over and I have the full app now. I didnt do anything it was just different when I opened it this afternoon and thankfully it does show the correct 10k target for the voucher.
I have no idea why the email they sent therefor said 20k but at least the account seems to be correct.
Im still baffled why I had to wait for full access to the app and a little annoyed to find out the card cant be added to Google pay which seems very outdated but guess I cant do anything about that.The Barclaycard Avios ecosystem is an app only concept, and seems to be somewhat separated from the rest of the Barclays world, so I think that’s why some further back office admin is required which takes a bit longer than the core card set up.
I don’t think anyone has explained why Visa Barclaycards can be added to Google Pay but their Mastercards cannot, but many use Curve to overcome that.

Yes I did see a few people use curve to overcome it. I may look into but not keen to have another account

I applied online and approval was almost instant and the car turned up within a week.
