Hi all
Am piggybacking on this one.
My Exec Account has been “locked for my own protection”.
I am getting nowhere with getting it unlocked – call centre saying they cant do anything and have “dropped an email to the team”. When i ask what team and the turnaround time i got no answer.
Does anyone have an email address that i can send this to or any other advice?
I am at 2 weeks and havent heard anything.
Any other advice / thoughts very welcome!
Thanks

Opening up this thread again. Have had Avios stolen but have contacted BA.
Last night couldn’t check in for early morning flight this morning back to UK. Couldn’t log into my BAEC account either. Eventually checked in at desk. Got back to find email from BAEC at 0004, subject “your email address has been changed”. Managed to log into account today – never use email so just BAEC number and password which is unique to BAEC account – to see that all my Avios had been moved from my account yesterday alongside “combined Avios IBPL”. The only Avios remaining were those which posted today. My account is not linked to Qatar, Iberia or Finnair, although I do have an account with each.
Rang BAEC. Asked security questions including email. Asked her again and again if it was same email address which they had, but don’t think she understood what I was saying and why and couldn’t get a response from her. She said my account would be locked and passed to Fraud Dept who were all on leave today – assume she meant they don’t work on a Sunday! She said they would contact me by phone or email in a couple of days. I explained I was concerned that they would be using a fake email address to contact me, but she just didn’t seem to understand what I was saying. Have read up thread that someone else had a similar issue trying to get that point across.
Interestingly, although my account is supposedly locked, I can now see details of my account on the app, including my BAEC number, my remaining Avios, Tier points and the fake email address which is incredibly similar to mine. I can also see all my recent transactions and access all my upcoming bookings.
It was less than a year ago that I had all my Nectar points taken from my account. It does make me wonder if it could be an inside job. I can’t understand what has happened to my hundreds of thousands of points. Is someone going to be buying Avios tickets in my name to fly? Will they have a fake passport/id in my name? @NorthernLass was asking similar questions upthread.
Does anyone have any recent experience as how long it might take for this to get sorted and get Avios back as I was hoping to make an Avios booking next week using a 2-4-1? Not feeling very optimistic at this point.
Mine earlier this year took around 3 weeks to get the points back.
I’m convinced many of these incidents are indeed inside jobs, as you shouldn’t be able to just change an email address or password without extra security checks. Could your original email account have been hacked, though?
There are a few posts here with readers’ experiences of how BA has dealt with this, but it rarely seems to be a quick process, though 3 weeks as per Rui isn’t bad 😬
@NorthernLass. Hope you escape the Caribbean before the hurricane arrives. Hopefully it will remain out at sea or die out long before it can hit land.
Thanks for your comments. My email account could have been hacked but I never use it to log in – just account number and password. But concerned as the email account I can see in the app now, is so similar to mine.
Others have said on here and flyertalk that they had received lots of spam emails at the time, which I didn’t. Have changed passwords, but the one I used was unique to my account. Just have to keep fingers crossed that everything is sorted quickly and no other accounts are affected.
I have just booked a non Avios flight, but got my daughter to book it using her account, credit card and haven’t used my BAEC number as I wasn’t sure if that would remain the same. Do you know if I will be able to use lounge, if my account is locked? It still shows account no and silver in the app. It’s annoying that I won’t be able to book a seat, but in CE it’s either window or aisle and still upfront.
Your BAEC number should stay the same – add it to your booking so your status shows on the BP, otherwise it’s going to look a bit odd when you access the lounge.
Let us know how you get on – it sounds as though this could be happening to any one of us as we speak!
We are due to fly home Friday. Hurricane is due Wed/Thurs. We are in a very lovely suite in the new Indigo now, which has hopefully been built to hurricane specifications 🤦🏻♀️😂
Thanks for your help everyone. Just over two weeks, a couple of phone calls and emails later and my Avios are now back in my account. All earning and spend history has been deleted.
I’ve just had almost 300k avios stolen from my account. What number/email did you use for contacting BAEC?
