Forums Payment cards American Express BA Amex Card value?

  • 2 posts

Today, I received my latest BA Companion voucher, meaning I now have 4 plus a Barclays upgrade voucher. There is zero possibility of being able of using all these given impossibility of getting club availability so I have decided to ditch Amex card for free version and convert my Barclay card to the new avios paid one. Apart from using one of my vouchers, I am now free to book other airlines to get better service and greater choice of destinations. Farewell BA, no longer my favourite airline. Had enough.

Hope you enjoy your newfound freedom away from BA. As for inability to use the 2,4-1 you mean not being able to get the CW seats on your preferred routes? The companion voucher can still be used to get European short haul destinations.

Yes, we used a voucher for Edi-LHr-Pmi Scottish school holidays.
Low cost flights would have cost over £800 for 2 with luggage etc, not counting lounge access ,drinks etc so there is still value to be had

I think the best Amex for a break period is the Nectar as after two years you become eligible for Membership Rewards and Avios sign up bonuses again.

Same here; now sitting on 3 unused companion vouchers. Maybe time I ditch the BAPP and rethink my strategy…
