Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA companion ticket help please – adding the return

  • 218 posts

Evening. I will be making shortly a 2-4-1 booking the outbound for next September for departure before the expiry of the companion ticket ( 30/9/23 ) but my return will be on 1/10/23.
I am hoping to clinch the seats at exactly 1am T-355 on line and ask BA to refund half the Avios. ( taxes favourable this way ) Do you think they might argue that my return flight is after the expiry of the companion ticket as I’ve booked the return in a non conventional way? Thank you in advance.

@sm, you’ll be fine. If any problem just ask them to refer to the supervisor or HUACA. Before booking, make sure you have prefilled your entire profile completely including travel companions and payment card so you can work through the booking as fast as possible.

Also … if you haven’t rang the BA call centres before then I would advise a ‘dry run’ and call them a few days before you need to actually book so on the day you are ready to go and not thwarted by technology or the process.

On D-day itself I would also advise ringing maybe 15 mins before 1am … this time worked for me and I was able to provide the agent with all my details and then at he was able to grab my seats as soon as released.

    Good luck!

OP is referring to online bookings.

Yes, however, if OP reads again then it would be helpful if they advise us their destination, bookings for the most popular ones probably being best boojed by phone.

@BJ, how do you fill in your booking form before the seats are actually loaded?

@Anna, I just meant all the general BA account profile information, not a booking-specific form. That way you can just speed through booking with the only typing required being card security code at the payment step. However, there is a quite useful way to do what you are thinking too, just do a dummy search for the same itinerary the day before then in your past searches section click continue booking just before midnight or 1am, and then with the booking in front of you for previous day hit check availability on the date you need on the dot of T-355.
