Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA Companion Voucher when you cancel your Premium Amex

  • 4 posts

I have to admit that £300 for my next renewal is going to stop me using Amex. I have a voucher that will be valid for 8 months after I intend to cancel the card. Is the voucher still valid, or is it stipulated that you have to be a card holder to use the voucher? I cannot find any subject matter on this.

Lots of articles and threads on this subject. copy and paste this into google – “Voucher cancelled card site:Www.headforpoints.com”

In practice no validated evidence vouchers are / have been cancelled, considering how many BAPP cancellations are reported, it would be widely known if this was commonly occurring. t&c’s open to interpretation, things may change. So depends how happy you are to risk Ba/amex changing their application/interpretation of the t&c’s.

Is this the most FAQ 🤷‍♀️😂

I find it really hard to understand how so many first-time posters have so much difficulty finding the relevant information, especially with questions like this. Every travel blog which touches on the UK covers it.

Well, there’s obviously an element of laziness but the confusion is understandable when Amex staff continue to peddle a different line (ie that you may lose the voucher on cancellation) and a strict reading of the terms, which have been updated and had various minor drafting updates still don’t reflect the current practice, so it is open to Amex to change it without notice. It probably suits Amex to maintain that ambiguity.

We are in a slightly similar situation with pro-rata refunds whereby the latest published terms don’t offer them but the current policy, whispered to selected friends of Amex, is different for the time being.
