Hello,
I have a BAH on the 12th May 2023. Unfortunately, may need to cancel due to medical emergency (mum in hospital). BA said I could cancel and they will give me the amount paid as credit to be spend in the next 6 months (for a trip on the next 12 months). Is this common and the same experience others may have had?
Thanks
Unless you can claim on travel insurance this seems reasonable. My parents had a similar outcome a few years back when my dad needed an op and they gave them credit.
This is very generous.
Strictly speaking if you cancel a BA hol within a month of of the trip you lose everything you have paid.
An update from BA:
” However, since you last spoke to us, our illness pre travel policy has changed, On receipt of a medical certificate that you are unable to fly, we can re-book you, but this needs to be done within 72 hours, we waive the fees but you pay any difference in price or get any monies back if less”
“it covers an immediate family member’s illness should you be needed to care for them, The policy was revoked on 31st March as we could no longer continue the costs we were incurring with last minute cancellation charges from hotels. So there is still a policy, but we would need dates to rebook you with the Discharge letter or Drs note anything you can provide if you cant go”
