Does anyone know anything about BA Hotline. Are the discounts worth the annual fee ?

Depends how often you use it and if you have access to someone else’s. We find it very useful. It’s the OH step dad, he’s quite relaxed about letting us use it and happily pays the fee for his friends and family benefit

Usually the economy tickets are same price but include more. Prem and business can be good

Currently looking for some good deals going somewhere atm, needing a holiday

You can pay an annual fee to join even if you aren’t BA staff.

Don’t think you can. You have to be the nominated partner, friend or significant other of a BA staff member.

You don’t earn Avios or tier points, so there is a trade off if you’re chasing status.

Hotline is staff and former staff who meet different requirements and allows close friends and family, it would never be Joe bloggs given you can save Ks on flights for a £50 fee.

Not true on the TPs and avios, I’m pretty confident they post, or atleast used too. You don’t earn any for hotels though, as they don’t class it as a BA Holiday

General context: staff travel is completely different to hotline tickets

Yep, pretty sure SSS is right re. tier points.
However, another downside is that you can’t upgrade with avios.

Btw, @SSS, don’t know if it’s “exotic” enough for you, but plenty of Tenerife returns at GBP120 from mid-Jan.!

That might work quite well, thank you. More tempted by dubai, LA etc.

I think FR has some kind of equivalent to that. I stumbled across it once when I mistyped a URL.

They do, bit stingier than BA Hotline but can also be good in non summer holidays

You can join BA Clubs as a community member (even if you dont work for BA) for £70 and then pay £50 to join hotline – so far as I’m aware.

I think only former staff who have served at least 10 years with BA can have Hotline via BA Clubs. It’s not a public scheme and is only open to staff or former staff (you need a BA internal login to access it). The discounts aren’t amazing but you get a plus fare for the price of a basic short haul fare, sometimes there are bigger discounts depending on loads and route.

I and Mrs MH are retired BA with over 60 years service (pilot/cabin manager) between us, and used Hotlines for many years. They’ve changed a bit over the years, originally the were completely non-refundable and changes were not allowed, even for a fee.

Hotlines are best value for domestics in my experience, generally they are a small discount elsewhere, but sometimes can be good value. Basic hand baggage only fares are not available, so often these are a bit cheaper than Hotline anyway.

I wasn’t aware anyone other than staff/retired staff had access. They definitely do get Avios and tier points – my wife is Gold thanks to many 2020/2021 domestic LHR-GLA trips in J class, all booked via hotline (they were cheaper during lockdown, and worth the extra cost as she frequently needed to visit her mother with care needs, and didn’t want to risk sitting too close to others).

However, BA sale fares often don’t get reflected in Hotline prices, when they can be more expensive. We are currently between 2 5-day BA Holidays trips (640 tier points!) paid for with FTV’s. Booking the same holiday with Hotline would still have given us double tier points (I checked), but would have been much more expensive – in one case 20%!
