I wonder whether anyone else has had this problem. I’m BA Gold and was travelling in Club back from Malaga to Gatwick last week. I was told at check in that Gatwick customers no longer qualified for lounge access as the flight is operated by BA Euroflyer. Instead I was given vouchers for €35.
When I went to the lounge they let me in (reluctantly) but indicated they no longer had an agreement with BA for Euroflyer flights and would not get paid. BA.com clearly states that I should get lounge access on a Euroflyer flight. Anyone have any insight as this feels like a cost cutting measure which, given fares from Gatwick are often the same as Heathrow seems unjustified and a poor way to treat premium customers?
Giving people a €35 voucher does not sound like a cost cutting measure to me.
You should contact BA directly about this. TRhere was an issue with BA City Flyer BPs not accessing priority security in Berlin late last year but that was down to some very behind the scenes coding issue that was resolved rather than some cost saving measure.
Legally BAEF is a different airline to mainline BA so that could be the issue in the background. Or a simple lounge staff error.
We got into the lounge in Faro the other week on BA euroflyer, although I would rather have had the 35 euros.
There is a thread on FT about this, it was supposed to be getting resolved imminently
I’ve had similar issues with CityFlyer at BER in the past, but they seem to now have been resolved. Although agree I think I’d rather €35 at most outstations 🤣
Yes, we were given a voucher in Bologna once because the lounge was closed. We wouldn’t have gone to the lounge anyway as on a previous visit had ascertained it was a glorified cupboard. As the vouchers were usable in the duty free, it was a result.
Sorry what’s FT? It was the Iberia check in staff who first of all said no lounge access which seems to have changed since I last flew to Gatwick from there in February
