Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA move to T2 – Manchester updates?

  • 97 posts

    Hello,

Has anyone heard anything more on when or if BA will still be moving from T3 to T2 at Manchester?

T3 is awful and I can’t wait for it to move to T2 personally, I remember last year people where saying it would be beginning of 2025, and then June 2025. But those dates have both passed, I’m just being nosy really. But has anyone heard anything more on the move?

    T3 is awful

And T3 is going to get substantially worse when you have to arrive at T1, then after bag drop/check-in walk half a mile past a new parade of shops all the way to the T3 gates.

I’m hoping that they’ll at least provide a decent arrivals experience where you’ll actually exit through the T3 doors, and allow uber pickups close by but I doubt it.

Very much prefer T3 with its dedicated domestic arrivals channel, short taxi to and from the runway and the current lounge being essentially BA only is the cherry on the cake. I know from doors opening I can be at the station within 10 mins at present. The plan should be for BA to move to T2 before T1 check-in/ security is used for T3 departures. However, if they are delayed moving that would bring better lounges, 3D scanners plus the existing swift taxi and dedicated domestic arrivals route. If I was BA I know what I’d be telling MAG what I want. Though what BA wants doesn’t necessarily cut much mustard with MAG nowadays….

In T2 Manchester, there’s a boarded off area being worried in at the moment. The sign is up on the wall saying “UK Arrivals”

Where abouts is that? What they need is to keep UK Arrivals separate from international arrivals. The proposal I’d seen reported was for arriving domestic passengers to have biometrics captured at the gate on disembarkation. They would then enter the main arrival flow but before the U.K. border there would be a second biometric gate line where the image would be matched against the picture taken at disembarkation. The gates would then permit them into a domestic luggage reclaim hall and exit without going through customs or passport control.

If that remains the case that is riddled with the risk of image capture and matching errors so is suboptimal to the T3 arrangement of literally walking straight off the plane down the stairs and out the corridor to landslide.

Aurigny Air have been flying into T2 since February so presumably they can manage domestic arrivals from Guernsey

Are the Channel Islands classed as domestic or CTA though? There is a channel marked CTA arrivals as you walk the long route from the arrival gate to passport control, though I don’t know if there’s a difference in the way the two are processed on arrival.

Someone posted on FT that it’s been proposed that domestic arrivals should have biometric data captured on disembarking – I mean FFS they might as well just send everyone through immigration and be done with it!!

CTA arrivals (including CI) into the UK shouldn’t be in the same arrivals flow as domestic flights as while they aren’t subject to immigration checks, they are subject to UK customs so the arrivals route should bypass immigration but then decant into international arrivals.
