Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA Premium 241 voucher flights from regional airports

Can I just check please – the BA Premium 241 voucher effectively provides a free flight between the regions and London and vice versa? Colleague booked the return leg of a BA premium 241 voucher last night via phone and the agent has charged the avios for the Lon – Man leg on top of the avios for the HND – Lon leg which I don’t think is correct, but just want to check before I suggest he call BA.

There shouldn’t be a charge for connections to and from *long-haul* flights. Someone else reported being charged for this recently, it sounds like a poorly-trained agent.

On the plus side, your friend did really well getting those return seats!

The charge if it’s a short-haul flight but not for long-haul. Personally, I think it’s a disgrace for them to charge for short-haul as it’s just punishment to people for living in the wrong part of the country.

Domestic connections used to be free on all routes, then a few years ago BA started charging the full avios and cash amount on short haul, which generally makes them terrible value now.

I have a similar question. I booked business class tickets from Belfast-London-Cape Town on Sunday at 01.00 for flights on Thursday 1st May 2025, the 355 days out scenario, with my Companion Voucher. As that is a popular route, I think I will have to phone the call centre on Saturday 25th May for the return flight to London on Wednesday 14th May 2025. As that is a night flight from Cape Town, I can’t book the London to Belfast flight on the same phone call, as it won’t be on the system yet, due to it being the following day and 356 days out at that point. If I then phone back the following day, am I likely to be charged air miles and/or cash for that final leg to Belfast?
I know I could try to book both flights on, say, Sunday 26th May. My worry then is that the 4 business class seats will have been booked during the previous 24 hours of availability and I’ll be stuck then with probably having to book the 2 Premium Economy seats, if they’re still available.
Am I over-thinking it, or worrying about nothing and should I just wait until 26th May and hope the business class seats are still available? Thanks.

You can do this at no extra miles. Don’t wait. Bag your long haul, then call the next day to add the connection. No extra miles. You might have to pay a small cash element but if I remember correctly it was £0.50 or something silly. I assume they recalculated my taxes.

As for the original post, I have also had the situation where I was charged the miles for a connection and I called and the agent agreed with me and refunded it. So domestic on long haul is free (miles wise) in all cases – voucher or otherwise.

If you book it in one go, there’s no extra charge in cash or avios so they shouldn’t be charging anything, though it’s not worth quibbling about 50p! You just pay the RFS fee for the long haul leg.
