Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Premium Plus with BA Accelerating Business card?

  • 9 posts

Hi, Iv just got the Amex BA premium plus card, for the welcome bonus and the 241 voucher. I will most likely keep this card going forward. I
am now starting a ltd company and will need a business credit card, I’m looking at the Amex BA accelerating business card.
Does it make sense to have the BA premium plus card and the BA accelerating business card at the same time?
If yes then is it better to book BA flights on the premium plus card or the accelerating business card?
Most flights I book will be for personal use rather then business.

If you can put sufficient spend through to hit the necessary bonuses and vouchers you care about with both cards active, perhaps. I’ve tended to hold one or the other in the past. Right now I’m holding neither, as I have a companion voucher in the bank already, and a different business Amex altogether. The ongoing spend rate on both is 1.5 Avios/£. There is also a 10k bonus at £20k, £40k and £60k spends on the BA ABC — will you spend enough to hit those targets? will that offset the annual card fee? The companion voucher is probably worth more than that 10k Avios bonus for many travellers, particularly if you want long haul Club, so if that is you, you want as much spend as possible on BA PP not BA ABC until you’ve got that voucher.

There is a bonus in terms of On Business points if using the BA ABC

BA don’t know that. Provided there are no children on the booking you may as well pile all your non-holiday BA bookings into your On Business account.

Thanks memesweeper. Your reply had helped me decide not to get the BA ABC. My spend wouldn’t reach £40000 so I would only trigger one bonus of 10,000 points.
I assumed I had to get a business credit card if running a ltd company. this was the reason for looking at business credit cards. I think Im better to continue putting all my personal and business expenses on personal credit cards for now.
I use other software to track my business expenses so it’s still quite straight forward to monitor expenses even if all my business and personal spend is on the same card/cards.
Please reply if my thinking is incorrect regarding putting business spend on personal credit cards. Cheers

The only things to watch are that the terms of your personal cards don’t allow business expenditure and you need to make sure that you pay your personal card from your own personal account, not a business account.

I raise expenses claims for my company spend on my personal cards. I always pay the card bill with personal money. Thus far the accountant and the card cos are happy with that.
