I recently noticed that I lost a few hundred tier points because, I assume, I passed my tier point expiry date for the year. I thought I’d read that there was an extension on TP expiry until some point in 2022.
Did I read that right? Do I need to sit on the phone to the call centre to get my TPs corrected, or are they gone forever?

You’ll need to explain this in a little bit more depth as there are currently reduced TP requirements for Bronze, Silver, Gold and GGL (and for renewal).
Do you think you’d qualified for a higher tier and this didn’t happen

I think you mean status extension but tier points woukd still go back to zero at the turn of your year.
Your tier point counter will reset to 0 the day after your year end (so as year ends are the 8th of the month the reset will happen on the 9th)
And whilst your collection year total has reset the lifetime total will not be affected and include them.
This is normal BA process
There was no extension or change to collection years but status was extended and TP targets reduced
Yes, my in-year TPs have dropped to 0 and have been migrated to my lifetime TP balance. I retain Silver until, I assume, the end of the 2022 collection year. I was sure that I had read – or, perhaps, misread – that TPs would carry over, thus allowing me to get Gold from the base TPs I had already collected through 2020/21, rather than having to start from 0.
