Baggage with Avios flight on American Airlines booked via Iberia

Apologies also posted this in the other frequent flyer section, not sure where is the best place for it.

Looking to book an Avios flight. Domestic USA flight with American Airlines.

As expected booking through BA, checked baggage is not included.

However, booking through Iberia, the Iberia app is saying checked baggage is included. I’m wondering if this is correct or a mistake.

Is this the general understanding of the rules if booking a redemption on American via Iberia?

Has anyone got any experience of booking like this and checked baggage was actually included?

I don’t know if IB has a special arrangement with AA, but if you have Bronze/Ruby status or higher, you get increasing amounts of free checked baggage 🧳 n domestic flights.

Hi thanks for the reply. No I don’t have any enhanced frequent flyer status, just the basic level.

I could be wrong but I suspect it is a mistake, baggage is not typically included on US domestic and you will be charged at bag drop.
