Hi
What are your favourite restaurants in Bangkok and Phuket? The ones you would recommend to your friends?
Bangkok – would like a nice restaurant for one evening, don’t mind spending up to £100 a head and then mid range restaurants for the other nights. Preferably Asian food.
Phuket – we are staying at Banyan Tree. Same here one reasonable expensive meal and then mid range restaurants. Probably at this point of the trip we will also fancy one or two European meals.
Thanks
Aksorn rates highly for me in Bangkok – it’s one of David Thompson’s restaurants and has a really wonderful atmosphere and style, serving authentic and traditional Thai food which he’s researched thoroughly. If you haven’t heard of David Thompson, he’s probably the most well-respected non-Thai chef of Thai cooking. Set menu (without paired wines) comes in at about £75pp. Exceptional quality and definitely taking advantage of the favourable pricing for non-Asians in Thailand.
Blue Elephant in BK ( its also a school of cooking )
Try Polo Fried Chicken (Soi Polo) in Bangkok for their amazing fried chicken with the Thai salad. Make sure you ask for it to be medium, if you can’t handle spicy food. It’s a simple-looking cafe, but the food is excellent.
Bangkok – Aloha Hot ‘n’ Juicy in Asiatique. It won’t cost you £100 per head, but it’s great food and a great experience.
