British Airways American Express Premium Plus retention offers?

Very pleased to see that since hitting my spend to trigger the bonus on Sunday, the Amex app is already showing the Avios. Presume they will drop into my BAEC at the end of the month alongside my BAPP BA and non-BA spend.

I can see it by opening the Amex app, navigating to “Membership” then clicking “Latest Activity Summary” where it is listed as “BAPP 10k Bonus Avios Offer”.

Got the lesser offer of 5000 Avios for £1k spend today (had the card since Feb and earnt the voucher already)

I was previously given 10k Avios for 3k spend as a retention in October 2022, my annual fee was paid in April 2023, I spoke to them last week, I was only offered a downgrade to the free version of the card 🙁

I called last night to see if any retention offers on the card (I’ve spent 10k in 5 months ) was offered spend £1k in 3 months and you will get a bonus of 5000 points which I accepted

Well I logged in this morning (not used my card) and they already added the 5k points despite me spending zero in the 24 hours … not complaining one bit 🙂

The card is due for renewal and the Brighton call centre (sounded abroad) said no retention offers are available for this card type. They did offer me a switch to the free one.

I think retention offers may be drying up as the result of the change in policy regarding pro-rata refund.. they are calling on the Bluff of callers asking for a bonus to stay-on mid way through the year and/or even for a second time within the same year. Reports on here are rife with examples of getting retentions bonus few months after only just earning the sign up bonus.. personally, for both this and the Platinum, I have only ever been offered the minimum available (10,000 Avios for £3k spend and 35,000 MR retention) and also clearly told that it was once a year (“no offers on your account at the moment, but you already had one 10 months ago, wait after this date and call back” and on the cal after said date, offer appeared).

Called about retention offers today as changing T&Cs and have got the companion voucher after 6 months.

Offer the 10K Avios for £3k spend in the next three months. I need to buy my annual travel card next month so it was an easy yes.

I asked yesterday and I was told that the only option would be to downgrade to the free card.
I was told told than I can try again on the 27th of this month. Apparently the agent saw a message saying that no retention offer would be available until then.

I’ve already earned the companion voucher for this year.
