Barbados Car Rental

Hi,

We (6 adults) are travelling to Barbados at the end of November for 2 weeks (Staying in Porters) and I am looking at car hire. We don’t need a car to move us all as my Wife’s parents don’t want to do any driving and are happy to get buses (they have been there before) but us younger (relatively) people were looking at getting a car to explore the island.

Any recommendations as to hire companies? I have the Plat Amex and their insurance will cover extras if anything happens so happy to go with a slightly cheaper option if there are any suggestions.

Strangely I found the best price to be the one provided by the hotel I was staying at. The best for price, a modern car, delivered direct to us at the hotel, then we dropped it off at the airport.

I personally found the freedom of driving myself was great. There is very little in the way of signage beyond the main roads so getting a local sat nav would be worth getting with the car.

We used Drive-a-matic and get them to delivery to the resort. I doubt they’d have anything for 6 adults though, but you say 4 might be enough.
