Hi all. I am thinking of upgrading to the plus card as I have a couple of spends that will immediatly give me £3000/5000 spend/points. Do I need to upgrade the card for any fixed period or can it just be a month. Thanks
It can just be a month. You can live chat to downgrade again.
You have to have an offer to up or downgrade in your account.
Doesn’t that reset your current spend back to zero?
Yes the spend counter resets when you upgrade (or downgrade). So if you want a voucher in the mix you need to be planning to spend £10K after upgrading.
The ability to downgrade typically appears after three months, but no guarantees. If a downgrade option is not available in the app the humans can’t offer it either.
Yes, it would do. I had read it that OP could hit the spend for the plus card during the upgrade period.
Perhaps the BC is being confused with the BAPP here?
£3k spend would also equate to 4.5K points, not 5K, on the plus card.
However, upgrading also resets the voucher earning.My apologies I put this in the wrong thread! I have just earned the BAPP £10k spend to get 2 4 1 so I am 10months from starting my next spend cycle, I may close the account anx get refund whilst still available. The reason for the barclaycard switch to the plus card is to earn the £3k/5000 points I am unsure of the value of holding it longeR

I have the BAPP Card, just hit the £10k spend to get 2 4 1 voucher I also have a Barclaycard Avios.
I am thinking of cancelling BAPP card and getting pro rata refund as I am 10 months away from begining earning cycle, I also have the Amex free card.
As part of the same plan I am upgrading the Barclaycard Avios to the Plus card for a month to earn 5000 point from £3000 spend
Hope this clarifies I am open to ideas suggestions

You need to have an offer to upgrade. Do you mean you have an offer to upgrade and spend £3k for 5K bonus avios? So 9.5K avios in total? Have you triggered your voucher from the free card?
Also you can’t hold the free and paid BA Amex credit cards at the same time, so not sure what you mean there.
Once you upgrade, you can start earning a new voucher (or 7k avios).
You won’t necessarily be able to downgrade after a month though.
