Barclays Avios Plus – spend £10K to get upgrade voucher, 24 months not honoured

Hi all

I’ve recently received a BA upgrade voucher and was surprised to receive it with an expiry of 23 Sept 2023.

I have been going around in circles with the BA customer services team showing them the following T&C https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/collecting-avios/personalbanking/cabin-upgrade-terms which states 24 months in section 9.

The last email I received pointed me to https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/evouchers which does indeed state 23 Sept 2023 in section 7 of the T&C. I replied with the first T&C condition and will wait to see what they have to say next.

With this expiry date I would say it’s next to impossible to get a business class upgrade with the lack of availability and I do expect the 24 months as per the first T&C to be honoured.

Has anyone else run in this problem?

Surely the second link points towards eVouchers, which are not the same thing as the Barclays Avios Plus CC Upgrade Vouchers, so completely irrelevant in this discussion?

If you are absolutely sure what you are seeing is your Barclays cabin upgrade voucher, put a complaint in writing to Barclays (their address for complaints is on their website), asking for it to be reissued. It sounds very odd, though – I’ve had 2 of these vouchers now and both had 24 month validity.
Where are you seeing the voucher – have you looked on your account page on ba.com?

Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that I hit my £10K spend, and received an email with the voucher code on the same day. The more I think about it, reading back on the email, it stated that it was a reminder I have a voucher so probably a throwback to a cancelled Covid related trip and I jumped the gun a bit. It did seem rather odd that it just had a cash value and no mention of cabin upgrade.

OK, thank you all.. I think case is resolved, I just need to be patient for the voucher that’s actually worth something!

Whilst we’re on the barclays avios card. Has anyone reading this got the 100k bonus for having the card and premier banking?
Today I pass the 4 month mark (the time frame quoted by barclays for receiving this bonus) and I’m wondering how long after this do the bonus avios appear in my BA account.
