I’m trying to do an Avois redemption using a Barclays upgrade voucher on ba.com, which flies out of Heathrow (to Edinburgh) but returns (from Edinburgh) to London City. There is definitely availability in business for the flights I’m looking at, but I’m getting the error message “Invalid Return Journey”.
After some experimentation, it looks like:
– if I don’t use the voucher, then it looks like this would work
– if I use the voucher, select the outbound Heathrow flight I do want, and a flight returning to Heathrow which I don’t want, then it would work
– if I use the voucher, select an outbound City flight I don’t want, and the return to City I do want, then it would work
…so it looks like the specific problem is trying to use the Barclays voucher to depart one London airport and return to another.
For extra bonus fun, BA’s payment processing systems are broken yet again, so their call centre can’t help me till Monday. This is very much in line with my usual experience of BA.
Does anyone know for sure whether I should be able to make this booking? I can’t see anything in the voucher T&Cs which says I can’t. If it should be possible then I’ll hold out till the call centre’s back up and running, but if it shouldn’t then I’ll just book without the voucher (I realise that it’s not a great use of a voucher anyway).
