Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Bendy – change T&C – big blow for MS

  • 49 posts

It seems like a major blow for those who greatly benefited from Bendy, especially with the new changes being introduced on July 13th, including 6211. Does anyone know of any alternatives to Curve that might allow exploiting the same opportunities?

If you set up an automated ‘571’ with the ‘other’ card, as long as you do it using the ‘French’ method then I find this goes through no problem, so I don’t think they’ve got wise to it yet. And you can keep cycling the same cash up to your monthly maximum (this figure is different depending on whether you’re on the blue or green plan.)

how do you find out the MCC from past transaction using Curve?

Look at the transaction detail and it might show the MCC description then cross reference that with the master list of MCC available online.

    @Scott
what about if you’re on the orange plan?

Are you really doing MS on 6211? Forex, CFD and spread betting merchants? Wow!

The MS game has evolved since the early 20s, Curve was the catalyst that killed the old methods. It is still very much alive, just need to transact at merchants that aren’t categorised as financial.

Any clue as to what this is referring to?

People are rightly cautious after loose lips sank ships previously. IMO threads like this should be closed once started as HfP has moved on from facilitating open discussion of such matters.

Doesnt matter as banks and financial institutions have mostly caught up to these stuff. We dont hear from many whose accounts are blocked or shut down – just a few are brave enough to post ‘oh amex closed my account’.

Imagine the number of cash advance charges and fees they get hit as they go about their ‘trial and error’ method. Not for the faint hearted.

Last day for this one 🙁

Can confirm that it is charging me 1% now on these mccs in a test transaction. Doesn’t warn you beforehand either which is a bit rubbish.

I had a good run last May banking 500k in avios in one month but got a KYC check and got advised ‘might be best not to use curve’ so it was a warning but not told not too, going to test out again since i have a new curve card number since last year.
Advice, keep all your paperwork with the money moving from and to and make sure its all above board and in your name, they did freeze £7k for about 2 weeks though so as someone said above, not for the faint hearted.

    Nup, loophole closed 🙁

Unfortunately, the loophole is now closed, but it was good while it lasted. Are there any alternatives left? Has anyone been rinsing (anything above £5k) with “GlinOLD”? – Amex works too.

£5k+ a day is still easy, it’s just that people don’t talk about it openly here as that leads to avenues getting closed down.

    23 posts

Ha, I’ve figured out what GlinOLD is but no idea what the actual method is to benefit from it (I’m very new to the Bendy game!)
