A while back I asked for advice on the platinum card and I have now spent the £10k to achieve the 80k points for joining.
Part 2 of my plan is to refer hubby to the BA platinum card as we have at least another £15k to spend in our renovations.
When would be the best time to do this? I have seen some other posts saying the joining offer is poor on the bapp at the moment and to wait. Any clue of when a better offer will come along?
I want to get it before mid feb as I want the companion voucher to try to get tickets to the Maldives for feb-March 2025.
TiaCan’t say when the next increased bonus will be for sure, but highly unlikely whilst the increased Gold and Plat bonus is on. That ends on 9th Jan.
Recently, there seems to always be 1 card with an increased SUB at any given time, so maybe the BAPP will have one shortly after the Gold/Plat offer ends. There was one in Jan this year, and another one more recently, I think in September.
But, both were directly through the BA website, and so you could not be referred for it. The one in Jan was for 70k, and it coincided with an offer of only 35k via the Amex website, so even with a referral, it was still better to go direct.
If you can spend the £10k to trigger the voucher immediately, then I guess you can afford to wait a little while to see what happens.

40k bonus 25 Feb 22 to 28 Feb 22
70k bonus 12 Jan 23 to 22 Feb 23
60k bonus 31 Aug 23 (I forgot to put down an end date)I guess I should add historical bonus does not necessarily get repeated…
If you refer without uplift 18k (refer MR points) plus BAPP SUB which is 26k? total 44k. If there is a SUB of 60k + with no referral will you be kicking yourself?

The 60k sub this year ended on 10th October.
Almost certainly not three days. It was before I started tracking and the only historical article I could find was this one which was the final warning hence my record shows three days.

Ah, fair enough. Have you also been tracking Gold/Plat increased SUB’s by any chance?
