Hi im going to book two return premium economy ba london to doha 100000 avios and £600 question is this the best use of points normal price is £1600
If that’s the ‘normal’ price then you are achieving parity (assuming 1p per Avios), except you will be missing out on the Avios and tier points you would earn on the cash option, so you’re worse off taking the redemption route
Hi thanks for that we needed to use upgrade vouchers forgot to mention that I get you point with the tier points
This summer we did LGW-UVF (St Lucia), JFK-LHR in business. Cash on the day we booked was £8,900. We used 200,000 and Amex 241 voucher. I think that was a bargain. So there are good routes to be had 🙂
Hi Gee, you could consider spending just over £400 of the £600 on avios using the current 50% bonus via Qatar Airways PC so that you have 160k avios. Then add a little more cash to remaining £200 and book return business class on Qatar Airways rather than BA. Best book via Qatar Airways to ensure no issues with seat selection as some have reported on BA. Yoy’d be spending just a little more for a massively better flight experience, and you’d get fast track, lounge, quicker boarding, seat selection and extra baggage thrown in for your extra cash.
As an aside the money you save on APD and fees on the outward LHR-DOH could fund a short break in BRU or AMS were you to book BRU/AMS-DOH and DOH-LHR as two one way trips.
