Travelling from Belfast via LCY to BER. Do we just stay airside for Berlin flight or come landside first. First time using LCY

You’ll come landside and go back up through departures

All super fast and efficient normally, though – plus new scanners so you leave everything in your bag at security.

Don’t let the landslide connection put you off, it’s extremely efficient. 15 mins from wheels down on domestic to being in departures is normal. International might add 5-10 mins for immigration.

    When are passport checks done

No checks BHD-LCY. You exit as a domestic passenger, go up the escalator and thorough security into departures. BA will do a document check as you board the flight to BER then there’s immigration on arrival at BER.

On return, you’ll do immigration pre-departure at BER (leaving Germany), then UK immigration and customs on arrival to LCY. It’s always been really quick for us – there simply isn’t the volume of arrivals at LCY and virtually everyone is on a UK or EU passport which speeds things up too. Then you exit into arrivals, up the escalator and back through security.

Bags get checked through from BER to BHD if you have hold bags.

I was initially reluctant to do a LCY connection but really, it’s as quick doing DOM-INT on a T5-T5 despite having to go through security at LCY. It’s way quicker than any other Heathrow connection. Only downside is lack of lounge at LCY, but the convenience offsets that to a large extent.

    Not even a thank you…
