As a HH member, if I am booking a Hilton stay for myself and partner, is it best to book the room for just one person ? ( vaguely remember reading on HFP that was case, just wanted to double check )
Also if paying extra for breakfast, just book for one person, even if 2 in room ?
TIA
If you have Gold or above (not sure if Silver get this) you can book for one because the 2nd person isn’t charged.
(Do check the Hilton Honors T&C on this one – not one that comes up often.)
If you have no status then obviously don’t do this.
2nd Guest Stays Free is a benefit to all members, not just elites.
Thanks both !
I havnt stayed at Hilton properties for a couple of years, hence lost Silver status earlier this year…
Heading up to Brum to visit family as yet another grandkid has entered the world 🙂 usually stay at the Garden Inn near Broad St.
2nd guest stays free doesn’t include breakfast.
It applies to room only rates where hotels charge more for 2 guests than 1. It’s very rare for UK hotels to do this.
If you look at the prices for HGI brindleyplace you can see that the room only rates are the same whether you book for 1 or 2, but for breakfast-included rates the incremental amount for 2 guests is double that of 1.
However most hotels just check your room number and don’t look at the number of guests.
The last time I stayed at HGI brindleyplace I brought 3 people to breakfast and just quoted one room number, they didn’t say anything even though no room in that hotel sleeps 3.
even though no room in that hotel sleeps 3.
I just had another look and they seem to have added a new room category since my last stay
Thanks @John
I usually go for breakfast at Grand Central Kitchen near New St Station, the extra cost gor brekkie at the HGI looked reasonable ( albeit that’s booking for just one person ) so I might just risk it….

If you’re near New Street I’d recommend breakfast at Tim Horton’s at the Stephenson Street exit, great coffee, and the best selection of baked goods anywhere.
Whatever it is worth, I never booked for 2, but always got breakfast for 2 adults and 1 small child.
Similar sort of question….
I’ve got a reservation soon at the Hilton Olympia. I booked a single room i.e. one adult occupancy. At this hotel the room has a single bed and max occupancy of my room type is one. I’ve got gold status.
A non status friend is considering booking the same hotel.
In order to get him free breakfast do I need to upgrade my room to a double and hence occupancy would be two people?

You could contact the hotel and ask them if they will provide you both breakfast if you book the multiple rooms.
I recently booked two rooms with two people in each at a hotel in London and they provided all four people with breakfast for free. I got that confirmed in writing in advance though to avoid issues on arrival.

By the T&Cs, he has to be staying in your room to get free breakfast.
As mentioned, UK Hiltons often extend free breakfast to everyone in a booking – but it’s less likely that they will officially agree to do this for a separate, unrelated booking.
On the other hand, the staff at breakfast may not memorise which rooms only fit 1 and if you enter together they may not notice.
How does the extra cost of booking a double room compare to the cost of booking a breakfast rate for the other room?
