Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Booking 1 leg using BA 241 / Question on Barclaycard upgrade voucher

  • 317 posts

I am ideally looking to book a return award flight from London Heathrow to Dubai in November or early December this year. Currently I can only see a couple of return leg flights only available to redeem. If I were to just book this return leg for 2 and potentially book a cash ticket for for the outbound journey it does let me use my two-for-one companion voucher from DXB to LHR but what happens to the remainder of that voucher if I’m only using it for one leg? Does it still stay in my account so I can use it again on a single leg?

Additionally I can’t see my Barclays premier bank upgrade voucher appearing when I’m looking at this rate of return leg only flight. Is it because that voucher is only valid for flights from the UK?

There is no remainder of the voucher. It’s 241 on whatever you book. If you book one way then it’s 241 on the one way and that’s it.

A one way cash ticket is likely to be prohibitively expensive. Counter intuitively it’d be cheaper for you to book a cash return even if you never fly the return leg.

The voucher would be ‘used’ when you booked the return flight so it disappears from your BA account. It SHOULD be possible to add the outbound later if flights come up but I’m not sure I’ve heard of this being done. Clearly adding a return onto a one-way outbound isn’t an issue.

The reason it might be an issue is that the ticket will be issued with a Dubai point of sale and adding an outbound in front of it would change the point of sale to UK. Is this an issue? Dunno ….

The Barclaycard upgrade voucher only lets you start your journey from the UK, so I’d imagine the Premier banking voucher has the same restriction, hence why you can’t see the voucher in your search.
