Booking partner redemption using Qatar Avios

Given that Qatar opens up their redemption bookings at T-361 rather than BAEC at T-355, this gives an advantage of booking redemption tickets on other oneworld airlines who release their redemption tickets more than T-355 in advance.

I’ve tried to do a dummy partner redemption booking on the Qatar website, but it seems like it must go through the process of submitting a request and then they will handle it in the back office, i.e. it’s not instant.

I’ve seen a couple of people online saying they can call to book these up instead – does anyone have any experience in doing this and how easy is it?

I have booked redemption flights using the chat box and found the service pretty good. Depends on which partner as some can be done online including AA,BA,CX and JetBlue
