Morning all,
Is it considered better to book a QR redemption through QR or through BA? I’d be booking either LON or MAN to DXB or SHJ via DOH.
I have no QR status but have Gold with BA and will have GGL within a couple of months (i.e. before travel). Thus my understanding is it’s a $25 fee (each way, I’m presuming?) to cancel if I book with QR vs free once I become GGL if I book with BA.
Should QR change the aircraft to one that doesn’t have Q Suites, I understand they have a policy that allows bookings made directly with them to be changed to another flight for free. Does this also apply if I book via BA – I’m guessing not?
Also is there a difference in the Avios/cash needed if I book via BA vs via QR? I’m getting an error when pricing up via the online BA tool so can’t see how much it would be without phoning. It’s 90k + £500 odd rtn via the QR site which seems great value to me.
Thanks in advance.
Some good info here

Recently booked a redemption for QR flights and checked out the HfP info. I decided to go via the QR website as pricing from outside of London ie EDI was slightly cheaper and the rumours of potential downgrades being more likely if booked on BA etc as opposed to QR – whether correct or not – swung it for me. I know the info re cancellation repayment makes this potentially easier with BA but that’s the chance you take.

Please see the update I just made to the thread linked above.
I think you did the right thing.
