Tonight I was amazed that within 10 minutes of commencing my phone call I was able to book two Upper seats to JNB in February using a Gold Card Companion Voucher(?) for 115k points (total) and £856 each. Online fare is £9,000! Not only was the phone answered quickly but the agent was, polite, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. This was in sharp contrast to my last multiple dealings with BA which have been a) awful, b) a waste of time, ( no answer and cut off!). It makes you wonder how bad things are at BA.
Wish Virgin flew to more of the cities I want to.A Gold Companion Voucher is issued for each time you renew Gold. You just don’t get told about it! I’ve had luck in the past in using VS companion vouchers on flights connecting to DL services, which opens up a little more of the world if you’re open to weird routing (LHR-LAX-NRT, for example).

That’s really interesting @AL – are you saying that the gold voucher enables you to also book at a 2-4-1 rate onto the connecting Delta flights ?

I’m saying that Virgin are quite flexible, subject to who you get on the phone. I am not guaranteeing anything…
