Has anybody experience of using the voucher down to Buenos Aires, Business Class. We were thinking, (one voucher each), of the BA flight that stops first at Rio and then onwards to BA.
2/3 weeks in Rio and 2/3 weeks in BA, but is this segment 5th freedom, and bookable as part of this itinerary with the voucher ?
I’m going to have to call to book, as I have a voucher to use in my account and my wife has one in hers…and to try and book on line with both is not particularly easy.

What you can do on the Caribbean routes is book to the first arrival airport with a voucher, then book the 5th freedom sector separately with cash or avios.
It might be doable in economy depending on the length of the flight. And of course you could book out to Rio and back from BA as it would fit the OJ rules.
So – if you do a dummy booking, GIG-EZE starts at 13,750 avios plus 50p, one way, in economy. It’s 3 1/2 hours which is probably bearable!

We flew this last August, Club Suites at 15,000 Avios and £70 – one of the best redemptions I’ve made.
You can do this with a stopover in Rio on the BUV or 241 but you will usually have to pay the relevant sector fares. It’s actually not ideal because the BA flight timings aren’t necessarily that convenient, if it messes up, the next flight isn’t until the next day and it doesn’t necessarily work out that cheap. Regional flights are fairly inexpensive and most arrive at Aeroparque in Buenos Aires which is a whole lot quicker and more convenient either for onward domestic connections or to get into the city.
