Hi Folks.
Im trying to book a business class seat from Sydney to Manchester on Qatar and wanted some help on finding a seat. Are there any websites that can help as the Qatar website just shows available, but when I select the date, it docent show anything that I can select and book using points. it just refresh’s. I have not had any luck, finding a seat and I have searched up to April 2026.
I would like to travel between September but can also travel August.
Does anyone have any idea if there is any space or any advice on what I could use to locate a seat.
I would like to start my journey in Australia and would like to end in Manchester. I am also open to suggestions on another route, as long as I can return to Manchester.
Hope to hear from your guys.
Thank you
No, there are no websites which have any Qatar availability outside Qatar, BA, Iberia, Finnair and presumably the other Avios lot.
Chase down segments as one way journeys and plot them all in Excel to build out your own mini database (which moves in real time).

Thanks for letting me know, ill just have to continue checking on the Qatar website then. Is it just me or is it usually quiet difficult to find avaiblity, when trying to book a flight using points.

Depends on where you’re wanting to fly too. The popular cities/locations will sell out quickly, but if you’re imaginative/flexible then there are still lots of gems to be found. E.g. we just booked 2no. 1 way flights to Cebu for next March, at a decent avios rate. When Manila was sold out.

For popular destinations, yes always.
For destinations during English school holidays, yes almost always.seats.aero lets you search for seats on Qatar metal but available to book with partners like AA or Qantas using their mileage schemes. This enables you to filter out the double Avios rewards. You may find very little is available.

Not literally segment by segment as Qatar heavily uses married segment availability. Need to look at UK-Aus though can do 2 x one way for the outbound and inbound if applicable
If you’re flexible you can check other departure points – Gatwick / Heathrow / Birmingham / Edinburgh. Same on the other side, would you consider Melbourne etc
If you are willing to pay a little extra its worth looking for segment by segment availability and booking two separate tickets in each direction.
Trying somewhere like Copenhagen as a start point, where Qatar finds it harder to fill its aircraft, may help as others flagged.
Even searching for availability on the Qatar website is problematic, just now Copenhagen-Sydney shows dates available on the month view, click the date and it takes you back to the month view. Then you search for Premium and it brings up Economy. I’ve been looking for availability to Australia for months and have found almost nothing.

Sorry what does segment by segment mean? No I only checked for Sydney but thanks for mentioning Melbourne. Ill try to look at that option now and maybe some other uk airports too.

Oh that’s a great shout, ill have a look at Copenhagen. How would I get to Copenhagen from the uk and will I have luggage issues to consider as I presume an economy flight and business flight will have different allowances.

How will you be continuing your journey from Cebu to Manila?
We have adapted our plans and will first head to Bohol to explore the Chocolate Hills and beaches. Then from there or Cebu we will fly to Manila or another set of islands, and then onwards to Japan. This is part of a longer 6 week trip with OH and new baby.

Yes, this is exactly the issue I was experiencing. it would show available on Qatar website, with the green light on the date. When I then click on the date, it just refreshes and goes back to the calendar that shows the whole month. This just meant I had to individually check each date of the month, starting from January. The only date I found was February 13th but that was peak Avios pricing.

I had the same issue, I then searched on BA.com which came up with the dates I needed.
Segment by segment means eg Sydney-Doha then Doha-Manchester.

if you don’t mind me asking, how did you find the dates on BA.com
I ‘found’ the dates on Qatar.com using an avios search and ticking the flexible dates option, the monthly calendar indicated which days had availability but the glitches prevented this route. So flipping over to BA.com I picked a date which had been displayed on QR.com as having availability and this worked.
Maybe I got lucky? Not sure.

oh okay thanks, I’ve just done that and managed to find one leg but not the other half of the journey. also I’ve noticed its more expensive this way, am I correct in assuming that.

oh that sounds like a nice trip, hope everyone has a good time, never done Philippines myself, but defiantly something on the todo list
I’ve compiled a list of QR availability for that route if it’s helpful:
SYD->DOH->MAN
It shows individual segments for the next 365 days so it may also be useful to those looking to fly SYD->DOH->???
Google SheetJust had an email from Qatar:
Hello Strickers, we listened to your feedback and are excited to introduce a simple and quick tool to help you seamlessly find and book an award flight up to a year in advance.
Fantastic, hit search and get logged out! Have they hired someone from BA IT?

If you can get to Doha on a BA redemption, and to your final destination on Qatar, and any combination on return, don’t overlook booking a BA multi-carrier redemption. It can be much cheaper. Each segment needs to be available individually AFAIK.

Yeah it’s broken for me too.
