Business cash upgrade at the airport with Emirates?

Travelling singapore to London on emirates happy to book economy but also fancy seeing if i can upgrade to business , travel will be on the a380 whats the chance of availability, and cost compared to just paying business

I’ve never done it at the airport but a couple of times I’ve rang them 24hrs before as that’s when they have the promotional upgrades – it’s the equivalent of business lite as it excludes increased baggage and lounge access and last time I did it, it was around £550 to upgrade outbound from Newcastle to Dubai.

Having no lounge access wasn’t an issue as there’s only one lounge (Aspire) at NCL and it’s always packed.

Also, the aircraft operated on this route is an old 777 and the business product is pretty embarrassing by today’s standards, especially if you are given any of the middle 3 seats.

Not sure if that helps but if lounge access and increased baggage isn’t a must then just try calling them 24 hr before.

Last time I tried asking at the airport, J seats were expensive even for upgrades. Close to £1k for each segment.
PY upgrades were reasonable, don’t remember the exact cost though.

I got a promotional offer on my return from Dubai after a cruise – it was in the app. Price was quoted in € at around €500ish. I opted for it, but payment didn’t complete so I thought I was still in economy. Couldn’t then do OLCI via app, so went to normal check in. They were confused and eventually sent me to ticketing desk area where they sorted to complete payment.

So, keep checking your booking to see if they offer one, then if you have issues with it completing go straight to ticketing desks.

And yes, no lounge or increased skywards miles apply.
